This non-random number is believed to be The answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Many have wondered exactly what it means. Many have tried to figure out the Ultimate Question whose answer is 42.

I figured I could just as well ask my four and half year old daughter. So I wrote a huge 42 in a piece of paper and asked her: “What is this?”. Her immediate answer was “Four Two”.

“Four Two” I thought, “4 Two ... For Two”.  

Well, that is a possible explanation and it works fine for me. The Universe, Life and Everything is for two. Find your pair, live happily together and the universe will rejoice.
