Tom: Hey, today I upgraded my Internet to version 3.14!
Jerry: Wow! I thought the current version of the Internet was 3.0!
Tom: Yeah, you are right on that one, but guess what! My provider uses some proprietary technology that allows them to actually mirror the Internet on their datacenter! Then they apply their own Internet upgrades and patches and upgrade their copy of the Internet! So here I am, enjoying Internet 3.14 while YOU are stuck with version 3.0.
Jerry: Wow... How much are you paying for these upgrades?
Tom: I am not paying anything. They are using Open Source software so I donate!
Jerry: Wow! How do I sign up?
Tom: Just call 000043572727
Jerry: Thanks man!
Hey Dave, gi’me a break! One break... coming oooon!
Had your choice of versions been from 3.0 to 3.11 (instead of 3.14) this would have depicted a real-life conversation that I once listened to. And it involved Windows (3.0 -> 3.11). Its only that the speakers were (even then) thinking that the "Internet" was "Windows".
